  • You agree to all terms set forth in this agreement, our Privacy Policy, and our Terms & Conditions

Credit & Verification Authorization

By submitting your request — and, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, simply by accessing or using this website — you expressly and voluntarily authorize First Nation Approval and its participating dealerships, lenders, and financial partners (collectively, the “Authorized Parties”) to do the following for the purpose of evaluating your vehicle financing eligibility:

  • Obtain, review, and verify your credit profile and credit report from one or more consumer reporting agencies (including Equifax Canada Co. and TransUnion of Canada);
  • Verify your employment status, employer, job title, length of employment, and income (including through pay stubs, bank statements, and notices of assessment);
  • Conduct identity and fraud-prevention verification against provincial and federal databases, driver’s licence, motor vehicle, and government-issued identification records, to the extent permitted by law;
  • Perform soft credit inquiries (which do not affect your credit score) for pre-qualification and rate-estimation purposes; and
  • Perform hard credit inquiries (which may appear on your credit file and temporarily affect your credit score) as required by lender underwriting guidelines to complete your financing application.

This authorization is required to determine financing eligibility and is given voluntarily. Where a lender’s guidelines require it, the Authorized Parties are permitted to obtain both a soft pull (for pre-qualification) and a subsequent hard pull (for formal credit adjudication) on the same file, and you consent to both. This authorization remains valid from the time you access or submit through this site until your financing is completed, your application expires or is withdrawn, or you withdraw consent in writing. A copy of this authorization may be relied upon by participating lenders as your written consent to pull a full credit report.

Your consent is provided in accordance with, and the Authorized Parties’ use of your credit information is limited by, applicable Canadian law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5), the Consumer Reporting Act (British Columbia: RSBC 1996, c. 75), the Consumer Reporting Act (Alberta: RSA 2000, c. C-23), An Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Quebec: CQLR c P-39.1, as amended by Quebec’s Act modernizing legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information, S.Q. 2021, c. 25 [“Law 25”]), and the corresponding consumer-reporting and privacy legislation of each province and territory where you reside or apply. You have the right to access, correct, or request the source of your credit information and may withdraw this consent in writing at any time, subject to the obligations of lenders who have already relied on it.

Nothing in this section limits any other right or authorization available to the Authorized Parties under applicable Canadian federal or provincial law. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force and effect.

Quebec Residents — Additional Rights

If you reside in Quebec, this authorization is additionally provided in accordance with Quebec’s An Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (CQLR c P-39.1), as amended by Quebec’s Act modernizing legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (S.Q. 2021, c. 25, commonly “Law 25”). Quebec residents have the right to:

  • Be informed of the holding of your personal information and of the purposes for which it is collected, used, or communicated;
  • Access and obtain a copy of the personal information held about you by First Nation Approval and its partners;
  • Rectify inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous personal information;
  • Withdraw consent to the collection, use, or communication of your personal information, subject to the obligations of lenders who have already relied on it; and
  • Where a decision relating to you is based exclusively on automated processing, request that the decision be reviewed by a natural person.

Quebec residents may exercise any of these rights by contacting First Nation Approval in writing. Upon request, the consent information set out in these Legal Agreements, including the Credit & Verification Authorization and Communication Consent, will be provided to you in French, as required by Quebec law. The French version is available on request and may be relied upon as the official consent text where required.

Adverse Action & Right to Access Your File

If your application is declined (in whole or in part), or if less favorable financing terms are offered to you based in any part on information contained in your consumer report, you have the right to:

  • Request, and be provided with, the specific reasons for the adverse decision by the lender or dealer that made it;
  • Be informed of the name and contact address of the consumer reporting agency that provided the file used in the decision;
  • Obtain a copy of your consumer report directly from that consumer reporting agency (Equifax Canada Co. and/or TransUnion of Canada) — generally free of charge within the time periods set by provincial consumer-reporting legislation; and
  • Dispute the accuracy or completeness of any information contained in your credit file with the consumer reporting agency, which is required to investigate and correct any verified inaccuracy.

Nothing in these agreements limits any right you have under applicable federal or provincial consumer-reporting or privacy legislation, including the rights described above.

How Consent Is Captured & Recorded (Clickwrap & Audit Trail)

When you submit a financing request through this website, the authorizations described in these Legal Agreements are captured through an affirmative, unambiguous act — a checkbox that is not pre-checked, clearly disclosing that you authorize the Authorized Parties to obtain your credit report, together with the act of clicking the submit button. By checking that box and submitting your request, you provide explicit written (“clickwrap”) consent for the credit and verification activities described above.

This clickwrap consent is in addition to, and not in limitation of, the authorization you give by accessing and using this website, and is the primary basis on which a participating lender or consumer reporting agency may rely as your written consent to pull a full credit report.

At the moment you submit, we automatically record and retain against the specific application you submitted:

  • The exact consent text presented to you at that time (both the communication/data consent and the credit verification authorization);
  • The version identifier of these Legal Agreements that was in effect when you submitted;
  • The date and time of your consent, in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and ISO 8601 format;
  • The Internet Protocol (IP) address from which your submission was made; and
  • The user-agent and device/browser information transmitted with your request.

This audit record is retained against your specific application and may be relied upon by the Authorized Parties as evidence of your consent for the purposes of consumer-reporting legislation and applicable privacy law. You may request a copy of your own consent record at any time by contacting First Nation Approval in writing.

3. Communication Consent

You agree that First Nation Approval and its partners may contact you regarding your vehicle request via:

  • Phone calls
  • SMS messages
  • Email communications

You understand that multiple partner dealerships or lenders may contact you to assist with completing your vehicle approval or offer. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP, and opt out of email by replying “unsubscribe” or clicking the unsubscribe link in any message. Opting out of communications does not revoke any consent already relied upon for credit inquiries already performed.
